Tomorrow Never Dies
When I made the sidebar links section (to the left) a few days ago, I gave each set of links a title from the lyrics of a song which I thought to be the best fit. I now see my choice of “Tomorrow Never Dies” for Al-Reuters and their ilk was an appropriate one. See YNET News for more on the Beirut photoshopping incident (I decided against linking to LGF directly because their server is now overloaded by the publicity).
A few quotes from that James Bond movie, from Wikiquote. First by Elliot Carver, the media mogul who shaped politics through news manipulation:
And by 007 to Carver:
There is no news… like bad news.
The distance between insanity and genius is measured only by success.
You forgot the first rule of mass media, Elliot… give the people what they want!
There’s no news like pictures of dead children; the Muslims have an insane ideology, but they’re geniuses in using Western sensibilities and democracy and free speech against the West; and the mass media is sure giving anti-Semites everywhere, be they Alexander Cockburn or David Duke or Hassan Nasrallah, what they want, but other people prefer what’s good and true, and those are leaving the Mainstream Media in droves and flocking to the blogs. Like LGF.
